New kicks

Baby needs a new pair of shoes! The Robeez have served us well. We had a menagerie of cute soft soled booties over the past year (monkeys, lions and geckos--oh my!). But alas, that soft leather sole is no match for Micah. Note the hole in the toe!

It was time for the next milestone: a proper pair of shoes. I'll admit to being fairly excited by this whole new shoe market to explore, but the sticker price was a bit of a shock (smaller shoes with less material should equal lower prices, no?) and once again the girls-clothes-are-cuter-rule proved true for the shoe market as well. Plus I reckon baby is going need a new pair of shoes every 6 months or so but....

Damn! those are some cute kicks! Fresh off the See Kai Run Fall run way:

There was a tenuous moment where we thought Micah's puff foot was going to mean a lifetime of dorky orthopedic shoes, but Dad stepped in and with a a little cranking, we got it on! Phew!

This is how we hang in my 'hood

We got the old Cornell Ave gang reunited for an impromptu climbing afternoon up the hill at Remillard Park just to mix it up a little. Slides and swings for me--Slab and hand jams for them.

(Though I tried to chalk up myself a couple of times too!)

After mom warmed up on the slab wall:

she rocked this route while I cheered her on: "Up!!! Up!!! Up!!!"

Mama and Dada think that the routes are easy enough that I can climb soon (now all I need to do is grow big enough for climbing shoes and a harness)! And lest you think Dada was stuck setting ropes and belaying all afternoon, he got on some rock too (though some longer shorts would have been more appropriate):

My new peeps

We hit up San Francisco this weekend to visit Nikko's new place (and his parents, Jen and Nick). Besides having fun guitars and lots of boxes to investigate, they also have fun slippery leather couches to play on and hide behind.
Nikko's a bit serious right now (he seems very focused at times) but I'm hoping he'll lighten up once he gains better control of his appendages. He's pretty cool though. I think I'll let him be my friend.
And here I am playing my new favorite game that Richard taught me:
PARALLEL!...PERPENDICULAR!:

14 Months old...yesterday!

Okay, okay, I know! In keeping with my earlier rant: "a year and some change" is easier to compute. I would have liked to have posted this yesterday on my actual "birthday" but I was too busy staying up late with my new pal, Nikko. He's a recent transplant from NYC and I've taken it upon myself to show him how we do it in the Yay! Area. We met up at the Farmer's Market in the Gourmet Ghetto of Berkeley where I got to sample many a peach variety, but poor Nikko's got to wait a bit until he can partake himself. After a milk break we headed back to our place for some dinner since Nikko's dad rejected the Cheeseboard idea (?!) --I know, I know, but we'll give him some time to come round.

My many styles

Giving our pal Emily a run for her money in the hip librarian category:

Stick-wielding and intimidating, yet puppy-dog cute and cuddly:

New slide

Last week a new slide showed up on the courtyard. I play on it every day and sing its praises. For more video of fun on the slide, visit my dad's youtube page.

Social Life

Last week I had some beers with Reece and Lucy at Jupiter. Apparently I was more of a third wheel, and they couldn't wait to be alone (scroll down on the link to see just what I mean). I guess I came on a little strong the first time Lucy came over. That, or she just likes younger guys. I'm going with the latter.

Plum tart

Mom's been nurturing the inner chef in me since an early age so... Bam!
I rewarded all of her careful instruction with a new dessert. I decided to get creative with GG's plums and added a little of what I like to call, Micah's Original Essence and...viola: a plum and frangipane tart.

Mom helped me with the plum pattern and I helped with the leftover plums. YUMMY!

Visit to the stables

Last weekend I got to visit the nice horse at the stables near Nanny & Mr. Hawkins' house. We brought him a rotten apple to eat.
He didn't get much of it...
Afterwards I got to wear my new apple-green PJs.

Captain, we're passing warp 5

Go to yellow alert!!!
