Hello all. I decided to take a break from all my WALKING to grace the blogosphere with my presence. Sorry I've been so remiss, I'm just way more interested in the world beyond my backyard. In fact I mastered the gate latch last week (much to Mom's horror-she'd like me to add). Tee hee! hee! Personally I think it shows my aptitude and problem solving skills, but mom doesn't see it that way.

A new sheriff in town
So now that I am one year old, I can write my own blog entries, like the big boy that I am. I mean my cousin Joey had been writing his own blogs since like, birth, so it was about time I fired mom. Mom is upset because she wanted to write some sappy entry about how proud and emotional she was when everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me yesterday. She started going on about how far I'd come since being the little bean who used to be curled up in her lap with little tightly clenched fists, and how she can hardly believe it was a year ago that I was nestled up inside of--wait, that was kinda cozy now that I think about...
But I'm into bigger and better things now. There is a whole world to explore beyond the womb--let me tell you. Today for instance I walked all the way over to Richard and Victoria's house on the other side of the village. Well kind of by myself. I had my trusty Fisher-Price lawn mower-type walker that my cool neighbor Ben is letting me borrow. But I can take steps by myself too. Today Mom was blowing bubbles and I was trying to pick them up, but they kept disappearing on me! This has happened before. In any event she stopped all of a sudden and started clapping because I had taken a few steps (Moms are really quite easily impressed). I admit I didn't even really realize it myself because I was just trying to catch those bubbles. Richard told me I'm like some guy named Wiley Coyote that way--I only fall once I look down.
I had a fun day yesterday--I got to eat this yummy thing called a cupcake:
Hang out in boxes--one of my favorite activities! (though it doesn't look like it here, I swear I was having fun):
and Mom and a bunch of other friends started hitting this cardboard number one hanging from the tree and then all these toys spilled out!
I learned a really important lesson: If you hit things long and hard enough with bats, toys and fruit leathers come out of them. Cool huh! I also got lots of really nice new books. I'm happy because I was getting a little tired of "miso in my sippy cup, tofu in my bowl", "Hen who gave rabbit an egg" and Nicholas, who is still a bunny by the way.
p.s. My mom just read this entry over my shoulder and told me to say "Thank You" to everyone who got me such nice birthday presents and who came out to celebrate with me. Thank you!!!!
p.p.s Did any one catch the number recognition above? I think I may be a math guy like my dad yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICAH FOREST!!!!
MFG in da' house!!!
A day late, but with good excuse. We were a bit busy celebrating all day yesterday with Micah and 150 of his closest friends. Everyone came out to celebrate the big ONE at the log cabin in the Presidio yesterday. Okay, it was actually for Stacey and Jason's wedding, but they got Micah a birthday cake and had everyone sing happy birthday to the little guy, so it was kind of like a birthday party.
We could not be prouder of Micah or more amazed at the passage of time and just how far our little love has come. It is truly amazing what growth and development can occur in 12 months. I remember reading "What to expect the first year" and thinking I'd never reach the last chapter...and here we are (of the book--many more to come in real life)!!! And, as if to mark the special occasion on purpose, Micah took his first steps today! It started with one clear step this morning and by the afternoon he busted out eight steps in a row!
