HAIR!
the latest plastic monstrosity
One tidbit of advice for new parents: rechargeable batteries
It seems despite my best efforts I can't stay clear of the battery operated plastic "educational learning" toys they market to children. (Who am I kidding, that they market to me!) I have no one to blame but myself mind you, I'm the one who buys (some) of them. My only consolation is that I never pay full price, opting instead to buy used items on such valuable sites such as the Berkeley Parents Network. Thank god for BPN! I basically "rent" these toys until I can resell them and thus cleanse my home of their temporary presence and validity in Micah's ever-changing world.
Recall our earlier beast, the exersaucer. Well we've moved on (and it has moved out--thank god!) Here is the latest monstrosity: the leap frog learning table
Here he is deeply engrossed:

Keeping up with Micah
Sorry for the silence of late. Our boy is quite the handful these days. His state of perpetual motion and the fact that he is down to only two naps keeps us pretty busy. Of course those two naps are pretty juicy. He's so tuckered out he usually sleeps for close to 2 hours at a time. Here are some clips of him in action and vocalizing.

Bragging rights
Today marks Micah's cousin Joey's 4 month birthday--and therefore the only time Micah can claim he is twice Joey's age. I have a feeling the concept is lost on both of them.
Let's take a trip down memory lane and remember Micah as a 4-month old:

8 months old!....yesterday
In all the excitement of meeting Micah's newest friend, Lucy Oppenheimer, I failed to show Micah in all of his 8 month glory. Here he is in his 12 month size jammies just before heading out to the young adult community's Late Shabbat at Emanu-El.
Micah is crawling around like a pro. Watching him motor around now, I can hardly believe that his first tentative steps were just one week ago. His new name is, "here comes trouble" or "there goes trouble" as the case may be. He particularly delights in taking every single book off the book shelves--no, he does not put them back when he is done. Needless to say, our nicer (read: fragile) things are either gaining altitude or some dust in a closet somewhere. He is also quite talkative, babbling amiably to himself, a particlular object he is holding or to you--if you're lucky. "Ba-ba-ba" is becoming "bow-wow-wow." I'll try to capture it one of these days, but it's tough.

My buddy, my buddy, my buddy and me
Lest you thought Micah was lacking in friends, here he is this morning with his buddies, Abraham (Abby), Caswell (Caz), Micah and Levi. You'd think we were all a bunch of bible toting proselytizers with names like these, but thankfully we have Caz to balance things out. Also you may not be able to see them too well, but check out Micah's new baby legs--these leggings keep his legs covered in the event of Gapiosis: The space between the sock and the bottom of the pant, often accentuated by being held in arms or by being placed in a carrier or stroller.--I know, talk about marketing. But they are soooo cute and they actually do serve a purpose, however contrived the website may make it seem!

We have forward motion!
So Micah and I were in the OC this past weekend and of course, 500 miles away from Daddy, Micah decides to finally take some tentative, but clear steps forward. Check it out!
