Kauai Wedding back in October...
So I FINALLY made it back to my Flickr site and thought I'd share some gems. This is from Alisha and Paul's kiss-ass Kauai wedding in October when I was carrying a little bean inside. Micah, Zack and I are in the back row. You can also spy Micah's other peeps: Lucy and Reece.

Memorial Day weekend
Nanny and Pop-pop made it down to lend a hand in the midst of the move and all-in-all it was a nice weekend--albeit mixed: Washer & dryer loading onto the U-haul truck, art-in-the-park and farmers' market in Ojai, patio furniture assembly, trips to Lowe's, grilling on the barbecue.
A stroll on the Ventura Pier
A visit to the Pirate Park
and the requisite sand burial at the beach
We miss you both already!

Rub-a-dub-dub
Hands down one of the favorite places in the new house is the claw foot bath tub. We are forgoing swimming lessons this summer for Micah and pato who prefer the simplicity and warmth of our spa retreat in the guest cottage.

Less than a month to go...
I drank a gallon of milk unto myself in 2.5 days. I have since been informed by my midwife that while the protein is good, the lactose (sugar) is not. "Everything in moderation." I hate moderation.... and I'm REALLY craving milk.
In other news: Micah is boycotting naps. Let me tell you, come 4pm he is a real peach to be around.

Quite possibly the worst day ever
So last month we went to a birthday party that in and of itself was lovely--just everything else surrounding that fateful day we are still trying to forget. Sadly we have not forgotten and may actually be scarred for life, so let's just recap all the fun:
It was a sunny, HOT weekend, well into the 90s and instead of staying on the coast where it was oppressively hot, we opted to go inland to Fillmore for the famed traveling railroad event, Day Out with Thomas.
We'll start with the good stuff.
Snakes were involved. I bet you didn't know they had pythons on the island of Sodor:
And here we are happily on the train, moments before the day took a decidedly nasty turn for the worse:
Two words: "Toddler Clusterf*#k".
First was the full blown tantrum for the juice box. I have to admit that when I returned to the scene from the port-a-potty I scarcely belived that horrific noise was emanating from MY child. But there he was: screaming and kicking like the best of them, attempting to steal juice boxes from the vendor's display. (For the record he did NOT get a juice box.) Then there was the subsequent meltdown at the communal train table "staffed" by two pimply teenage boys who were as useful at controlling traffic and staggering the kids as two dense logs. While they sat oblivious to the mayhem, parents feebly marshaled screaming children vying for scarce train goods and politely trying to negotiate with the older toddlers breaking up and ruining the track for everyone and whose parents were conveniently MIA.
Then there was the Tent of Consumerism, piled high with marketing marvels from China emblazoned with Thomas's visage that we had to avoid like the eleventh plague.
As we negotiated the crowds and traveled like salmon upstream to get the hell out of there, the last stop was at the fire engine. You can see Micah's exhausted look after two tantrums, with the best for last brewing under the surface:
Shortly thereafter Zack carried a screaming Micah away from the scene as we greeted unsuspecting parents just arriving in the parking lot. I wished each of them a fabulous time. He wailed for ten full minutes, "I don't want to go!" while Zack and I tried to go to our happy place in the front seat of the car. He finally crashed out and woke pulling his ear. The end of the day was spent in Urgent Care getting his third ear infection in 4 months diagnosed. We just finished the course of antibiotics.
Did I mention it was 95 plus degrees out?

T-minus 5 weeks
Yesterday marked five weeks until my birth/giving birth day...Yikes!
Micah's sense of time is a bit off and he is extremely focused on HIS impending birthday. (You can imagine his reaction when I told him it would be Daddy's, then Mama's THEN Micah's birthday.) Why it has to be THIS year that he is so clued in I don't know. After two successful over-the-top birthdays with multiple homemade cakes, cupcakes and ice cream, why the year I was hoping to bow out with a Safeway cake and little to no fan fare does he have to mention his birthday party (and cupcakes with chocolate sprinkles) at least once a day? Of course anyone who knows me, knows that there will be no store bought cake, and even if in the midst of labor pains, I'll probably be whipping up cream cheese frosting. I've managed to let some things go this pregnancy, but not everything.
Then there is the impending move. While we are actually already homeowners, we thought we'd make it a little more interesting and move that much closer to my due date and the end of the quarter for Zack. Family shot in front of the "sold" sign will be forth coming. The new house is about a 10 minute walk to this place:
